“I have a friend whose daughter is at Mayville School and she did the MIDAS questionnaire. Her daughter appeared to build a relationship with the computer during the completion of the questionnaire. "How did the computer know so much about me, how did it know I sing tunes in my head, how did it know I loved animals?" Obviously there are some questions that just rung so true with her, she felt the computer knew her, that she wasn't a freak to sing in her head etc! She really loved been asked questions that nobody had really bothered to ask her before.”

Being a parent may be the most challenging job you’ll ever have. Living in a highly competitive world where the emphasis always seems to be on ‘fixing what is wrong', it is easy to get caught up in relentless negativity. After Carolyn heard her daughter describe how happy she was that the computer seemed to know so much about her, Carolyn felt a little guilty and sad that she hadn’t herself noticed those things about her daughter. The MIDAS Profile became a way for the two of them to talk about things that they both took for granted. Important discussions then took place in their family. Plus, Carolyn now had a map of her daughter’s strengths to guide her to find fun, engaging and intellectually stimulating activities for the family to do together.

Musical Learning Strategies
Use Rhyme, Rhythm and Repetition. Notice how the words sound. Make a musical beat to it.
Repeat it until you can hear it clearly and it sounds just right. Sing it to yourself.
Make up a song lyric that explains it. Study with pleasant music, a metronome or with perfect quiet.
Say it out loud sometimes slowly and sometimes quickly. Emphasize the accent or the voice inflections.
